Broken China Comes to Life®
I
am a self taught artist, who‘s inspiration stems from my
love for antiques. I have collected antiques for years, and
quickly saw that collectors didn’t want chipped or cracked
china and porcelain. I incorporate those pieces of broken
china, vintage glassware and silverware into beautiful
pieces of jewelry as well as 3D Wall art. Creating my pieces
has given me a way to preserve and recycle these beautiful
antiques, giving them a new life. Hence the name -
Cracked Up Jewelry...Where Broken China Comes to Life
®
Every
time I wear one of my creations, strangers stop to ask me
about them. They want to know where I bought them. When I
tell them that I made it, then they always say "you
should sell them" ..Hmm.......what a great idea!...In
August of 2006,
Cracked Up Jewelry... Where Broken China
Comes to Life® was born!
Each
piece of vintage china is purchased chipped, cracked or
broken. Through my journey I have learned to make use of
other broken or damaged antique pieces, such as depression glass,
Fenton glassware etc. not just broken china. In my eyes, all
cracked or broken antiques deserve a new life! The glassware
or china is then
hand broken so it is impossible to duplicate. I like
the fact that each shape is not a perfect form, they are
abstract, which to me gives it much more character. Each
piece is encased in a lead free alloy, and placed on
beautiful hand dyed ribbons, or sterling silver
chains. Creating
each piece of jewelry is a multi step process, and I create
each one personally from start to finish. From hunting for
antiques, which I truly love to do...it's in my blood! Oh,
the History behind each of these pieces! That's another part
that I really enjoy! To creating each piece, and let me tell
you, I was born to create! Cracked Up Jewelry...Where Broken
China Comes to Life® was a natural fit for me, combining the
two things that I love to do...Antiquing and Creating!
Transforming and recycling a broken piece of the past, into a beautiful
piece of art...this is my passion. Each
of my creations are wrapped in a beautiful organza pouch,
complete with a description card telling the history of the
piece. Perfect for gift giving!
