I
am a self taught artist, who‘s inspiration stems from my
love for antiques. I find beauty in wonderful pieces of
chipped & cracked antique china.
After collecting
antiques for years, I began to notice that the china
collectors do not have a need for damaged china & porcelain. I incorporate these pieces of broken
china, porcelain, glassware and silverware into beautiful
pieces of jewelry as well as 3D Wall art. Incorporating
broken but still beautiful antiques into my art gives them a
new life: hence, Cracked Up Jewelry...Where Broken China Comes to Life
® was born!
I love hunting for antiques & in every town I
travel for art shows, I quickly find the antique stores and
let the antiquing begin! Each piece of vintage china is
purchased chipped, cracked or broken. Through my Cracked Up
Journey, I have learned to make use of other broken antiques
as well. Recycling china led me to broken glassware & even
pop bottles! In my eyes, all antiques deserve a new life.
Hunting for antiques is where the fun begins, I never know
what damaged pieces I will find. My friends & customers are
always donating wonderful items for my collection too.
Creating one-of-a-kind jewelry is a multi
step process: I create each one personally from start to
finish. After the "find", I design & cut out a shape that
compliments each pattern. Each piece is encased in a
lead-free alloy, then placed on sterling silver chains or
beautiful satin ribbons that I hand dye to compliment the
antique china patterns.
Every antique has a history & a story. I feel
the history where & when these lovely china patterns were
made must be shared. As crazy as it sounds, I become
attached to these wonderful antiques. Researching each piece
of china completes my transformation of these beautiful
antiques. Through my journey they become an extension of me.
Cracked Up Jewelry... Where Broken China Comes to Life® was
a natural fit for me because it combines two things that I
love, Antiquing & Creating! Transforming & recycling a
broken piece of the past into a beautiful piece of art...
this is truly my passion.
